Dees intensify bid for Lyon

THE intrigue over the future of Ross Lyon continues, with Melbourne expected this week to lift its bid to snare the St Kilda coach. Speculation over Lyon's future comes as Adelaide, also searching for a new coach, is understood to have interviewed Collingwood assistant coach Mark Neeld in Melbourne yesterday. Neeld is also in the frame for the vacant Western Bulldogs role, although Leon Cameron is expected to win that position. The Crows were also to meet with West Coast assistant Scott Burns, already in Melbourne for what was a losing qualifying final against the Magpies. Burns has emerged as favourite for the top job, perhaps with Rodney Eade as his senior assistant. Eade said over the weekend he was confident of remaining in the system in some capacity. Crows best and fairest Scott Thompson has implored the club to sign a coach that can fast-track young talent. It's understood the Demons would prefer an experienced coach, with Lyon at the top of the list.
Scully’s giant decision a small step away

THE saga that is the Tom Scully reality show appears to be coming to an end. The uncontracted Melbourne midfielder flew to Sydney yesterday morning with his parents and sister and spent the day inspecting the Greater Western Sydney's training facilities and its accommodation enclave at Breakfast Point. The Giants have offered 20-year-old Scully what is believed to be a six-year, $5 million contract. As late as last night, the Demons, who have presented a far-less rewarding inducement, were still clinging to the hope Scully would stay. Scully is expected to remain in Sydney until tomorrow, suggesting an announcement on his future could be made as early as today. The 2009 No. 1 priority draft pick denied he had already made what he said would be the toughest decision of his career. "No I haven't. I clearly haven't. Just going up there to have a look," he told The Sunday Footy Show before boarding his flight.
