CHRISTIAN Petracca says Melbourne’s stunning 41-point win over the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night is the best moment he’s tasted in the AFL so far.

Petracca said Melbourne’s come-from-behind victory, after it trailed by 28 points in the second quarter, was a moment he’ll cherish.

“That was the best win I’ve been a part of. I think it’s special just from where we’ve come from. It was a really disappointing loss last week, and with so much resilience in the group, we have so much faith in each other,” he told Melbourne TV.

“It’s a pretty hostile environment in Adelaide, especially against the Crows, and to come out with that intensity from the start and play four quarters of footy – it’s just unbelievable and I’m just so proud of the boys.

“We just wanted to be composed and relaxed with the footy … in the second quarter they got hold of us, but Goody (Simon Goodwin) told us to keep sticking to our guns, which is contested footy and keep moving the ball forward.”

Petracca said it was “a pretty special feeling” when the momentum shifted and the Demons kicked 15 of the last 18 goals.

“When the boys are up, the momentum shifted out way, and the voice is right up and our leaders were really vocal,” he said.

“Nathan Jones and Jack Viney were leading the way with their contested ball – I’m just so proud of the boys.

“To come into an environment like this and get the win, it was pretty special and something I will hold with me for the rest of my life.”

Petracca, who had 24 disposals, said the team was rapt to give teammate Bernie Vince a memorable 200th game.

“He is such a great guy off the field and on the field – he puts his blood sweat and tears into the game and to the Melbourne footy club,” he said.

“He is the one guy you want running out with you every week because you know he is going to give it his all. He loves playing for you, and I couldn’t be happier to get the win for him, particularly in Adelaide.

“We’ll celebrate it, just for Bernie. We’ll have to move onto next week against North Melbourne. It’s a special feeling, but we will review the game and there will be lots of room for improvement, but at the moments it’s awesome.”
