Forward Jesse Hogan was again a shining light for the Casey Scorpions kicking three goals in their loss to Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval on Sunday.

Casey 8.10 (58) was defeated by Werribee 17.12 (114).

The Scorpions got off to a fast start kicking the opening three goals and going into quarter-time with a six-point lead.

Cam Pedersen took over ruck duties for most of the game. Pedersen tried hard all day playing in multiple positions.

The second quarter was dominated by Werribee as it kicked a massive 10 goals for the quarter.

Youngster Jack Viney, who returned from injury, battled hard all day playing throughout the midfield. He finished with 17 disposals.

James Magner again found plenty of the ball, finishing with 25 disposals. Jordie McKenzie, who had his first game after returning from injury, had 23 touches.

Dom Barry gathered 22 touches and contributed one goal.

Other major ball winners were Pedersen (22), Tom Gillies (20) Josh Tynan (18) and Tom Couch (17).

Pedersen, Strauss, Barry, Tynan and Macdonald were among Casey’s best.

After a disappointing 56-point loss, Casey will take on Essendon next Sunday afternoon at Casey Fields.
