JACK Watts says he felt privileged to be involved in Melbourne’s entry in the Virgin Australia Film Festival.

The star Demon, who has just signed a new three year deal to remain with the club, recently joined dual Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy winner Nathan Jones to give youngster Sydney Arnold a birthday he’d never forget.

Sydney’s father Sam Arnold is fighting cancer and asked the Demons to donate a supporter pack for his six year-old son. Watts and Jones visited Sydney during their visit to Adelaide, when the Demons played the Crows in round 22 this year.

“It’s one of the lucky things that we’re fortunate enough to be able to do as AFL players,” Watts told melbournefc.com.au.

“It’s just amazing the response it’s got on the social media, and it’s pretty exciting that we entered it into the competition, which we weren’t really aware was going to happen at the time.

“It’s a great response, but those things are happening every day at every club – everyone’s doing it, so it’s good to get that out in the public for everyone to see.”

Details regarding the competition

Sam Arnold is fighting cancer. Incredibly, that’s not his concern. The single father, who cannot work, simply wants to give his six year-old son, Sydney, a birthday present.

That’s when Nathan Jones and Jack Watts answered the call with a birthday Sam and his son will never forget.

It’s all about going the extra mile.

The special moment has been captured and entered in the Virgin Australia Short Film Competition. Here’s how you can help the Club win the competition and share the good will:
