LESS THAN one day after being vacated by Collingwood, Gosch's Paddock will become Melbourne's main training ground on Friday.
The Demons will t ake to the ground, which was used almost exclusively by the Magpies, for their final training session ahead of Saturday's MCG clash with West Coast.
"It was always the plan once Collingwood moved off that we would have increased access," said Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney.
"It's a good step for us to move to a permanent football ground."
The Demons have used Gosch's Paddock sporadically, but their main training venue has been located immediately outside AAMI Park, which they shared with the Melbourne Storm and the Melbourne Victory.
"There's just a few little differences that we'll enjoy at the new ground such as a fence all the way around and nets behind the goals," Mahoney said.
The Demons will continue to train on a regular basis at Casey Fields. They conducted a closed training session there on Wednesday.
Collingwood moved into its new $11.3 million training ground a few hundred metres down Swan Street on Thursday. The new ground is located on the site of the old Olympic Park and immediately adjoins the Westpac Centre. It has the same dimensions as the MCG.
