Dees bond on Peninsula
Melbourne has headed to Sorrento on Tuesday night for a quick getaway to help get its season back on track
On the back of two dismal performances against PortAdelaide and Essendon, where the Dees have lost by a combined margin of227 points, football manager Josh Mahoney said it was an opportunemoment to get bring the players and coaches together.
“We’ve come down here to work out why we’veperformed the way we have at the start of the season. We’re looking atthe reasons that will help us perform at the level which we are allaiming to be at,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“It’s a great opportunity for the players andcoaches to sit down and talk about what has happened over the lastcouple of weeks, and how they’re feeling about it and how they all wantto get out of it together, and get back to the waythat we want to perform.”
Mahoney said it was important that the teammaintained its training program during this week, and it will hit thetraining track on Wednesday.
“This camp hasn’t affected our ability to train this week,” he said.
“We’re still doing the same number of sessions, butwe’ve found the time and we’re making the most of it with the playersand coaches we’ve got together.”
Mahoney said the club expected to gain benefits from their overnight stay.
“During in season, we don’t often get opportunitieslike this, where we pause for a moment and consider what we’re doing,”he said.
“We identified this as being extremely valuable, and we’re making the most of our time down here together.”
