MELBOURNE has named defender Colin Garland for his first match of the season, after an ankle injury derailed his start to 2014.
Garland, who did not play his first match of football until the round four equivalent in the AFL Victoria Development League this year, has since played the past three matches in the VFL.
But after finding match fitness with Casey, the 26-year-old is set to add to his 101 matches since his debut in 2007.
Garland has replaced rookie defender Alex Georgiou, who has featured in Melbourne’s opening seven matches of the season.
As announced earlier, Jack Viney has been named in the 22, pending his outcome at the appeals hearing.
Viney was suspended for two matches for rough conduct on Tuesday night, but has challenged the penalty via the appeals board.
Ruckman Max Gawn, midfielder Aidan Riley and defender Mitch Clisby have been named emergencies for the second successive round.
Saturday night will also see the Field of Women 2014 event held before the encounter, which is a powerful display that brings the statistics of breast cancer to life.
