DEFENDER Alex Georgiou has accepted a reprimand and points towards his future record for striking Sydney superstar Lance Franklin.
Georgiou was charged with a level one striking offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Franklin during the first quarter of Saturday night’s clash.
But the first-year Demon was able to accept a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record with an early plea, which he took.
It means he will be free to play against the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Swans, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).
This equaled a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.
Georgiou had no existing good or bad record, so an early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record.
