Nathan Jones has stormed home in the Hertz Fans’ Most Valuable Player award.
The co-captain was named in the top three players in 13 of 22 games to hold off Dom Tyson and Bernie Vince and win the award with a massive 445 votes.
The top four reflected the standings of this year’s best and fairest, with Jones, Tyson, Vince and Lynden Dunn also the highest vote winners at the 2014 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy.
With five best-on-ground performances in the first six rounds, Jones gained an early ascendancy in the MVP and while Tyson was the top-ranked player in seven matches, the first-year Demon was unable to catch the co-captain, finishing runner-up on 334 votes.
Bernie Vince (252 votes) and Lynden Dunn (134 votes) each recorded two best-on-ground performances while Jeremy Howe’s performances down back were also rated highly by the fans, with the defender recording a top-five finish in the award.
In the Hertz MVP, fans voted for their top three most valuable players after each match.
A maximum of 100 points was awarded per game, with each player receiving points according to the percentage of votes they received for that performance.
For example, a player who received 40 per cent of the votes for a match would have 40 points added to their overall MVP tally.
