The Demons continued to impress early in the second term, when Jeremy Howe put his side up by seven points. But it proved to be Melbourne’s only major for the second term.
Collingwood didn’t kick its first of the second term until the 11-minute mark, via Brent Macaffer, and after several missed opportunities in front of goal, the Pies made it back-to-back goals when Travis Cloke booted his first in time-on.
At half-time, the Demons trailed by nine points.
Three quarter-time: Coll 5.10 (40) to Melb 3.6 (24)

Bernie Vince kicked Melbourne’s only major for the term – but could’ve had two – had his ‘goal’ not been called back by the umpire.
Collingwood’s Tyson Goldsack kicked the first of the second half and when Dayne Beams added his side’s second at the 24-minute mark, the Pies took a 16-point advantage into the final change.
Final quarter: Collingwood 8.13 (61) d Melbourne 3.10 (28)
Although the Demons trailed by fewer than three goals entering the final stanza, the Magpies soon took control to set up the win.

For the record, the Dees managed four behinds in the last quarter.
