FIND out what the members of the leadership group told melbournefc.com.au about their appointment ...

Jack Grimes (co-captain)
“It is a massive honour and something I didn’t really see coming. I’m absolutely rapt to be in the role.”

Jack Trengove (co-captain)
“It came as a bit of a shock and I’m sure Grimesy is saying the same thing. But it’s great to get the opportunity to lead this great club with such a rich history and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Clint Bartram
“I’m probably echoing what the two Jacks have said - it’s a fantastic honour. It’s something that the whole group is not going to take too lightly. We understand the responsibility and I must say that I’m very much looking forward to that.”

Mitch Clark
“I’m pretty proud right now. I’m excited about the whole thing. I’m just here to support the other guys and support Jack and Jack, so I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing. The big thing for me was to come in and train hard and earn the respect of my teammates and the staff at the Melbourne footy club. They’ve given me the opportunity to come here, so I feel like I’m part of the way there now. I’ll try and earn that respect and hopefully earn that from the supporters, members and sponsors and the footy club. So hopefully I can do that throughout my career at Melbourne.”

James Frawley
“It’s pretty tough on the likes of Riv (Jared Rivers) and Greeny (Brad Green), but now we’ve got to look forward. We’ve got a bunch of good blokes and we’ll really work together to change this group to where it really belongs. Like Trenners and Grimesy said in the press conference, I’m just looking forward to the challenge of coming into the leadership group and helping my teammates get better and hopefully we’ll win a few more games.”

Colin Garland
“It’s a great honour. I’m really looking forward to working with the rest of the guys now. Moving forward, I’m looking forward to trying to get this club back to where it belongs. It’s a great feel that we’re all around the same age, so it’s something that we can really drive in the future. I’m just super excited by the challenges ahead.”

Mark Jamar
“Firstly, I’m honoured. It’s been a goal of mine for a number of years now to be part of the leadership group. It’s a good feeling, but I know there is a lot of hard work in front of us. But I’m just honoured.”

Nathan Jones
“I’m pretty proud, particularly because it’s a whole new coaching staff and there has been a massive revamp of the club. The impact I’ve tried to have and the impression that I’ve tried to make from early stages since Mark [Neeld] got here has made an impression on him. I’m extremely honoured to be a part of this group, particularly with this group being so young. To support the two young co-captains, which I’m pretty excited about, is great. I’m pretty happy and I can’t wait to get into playing now, so I’m looking forward to it.”
