WHEN he steps out onto Traeger Park this Saturday, Jeff Garlett will be wearing a different, very special pair of boots.
Ahead of the Indigenous Round, Garlett had his boots specially painted, with a particular story behind their design.
“There’s a meaning for them – ‘Storms Never Last’ – so it tells the story behind it,” Garlett told melbournefc.com.au.
“It tells about where we’ve come from as a team.
“We’ve been down the bottom and we’re working our way up to build for the future and hopefully take the next step and go forward.”
Garlett explained some of the fine details featured within the design, which was painted by Natashia Corrigan of Jinaburra Designs.
“You can see in the design, the people there, [that] the spirits and the elders are looking over us and looking after us,” he said.
“So it’s got a lot of meaning to it and I love it.
“I’m very grateful to the Jinaburra Designs group – they designed these and I’m very grateful that they’ve done this for me.
“I feel very privileged and honoured to be wearing the boots.”
