Looking back over Cameron Bruce’s career, it is perhaps worth remembering the path taken by him to reach this milestone. On the Club’s supplementary list in 1998 and 1999, he finished sixth in the Reserves’ Best and Fairest in 1999, before being promoted to the senior list for 2000.

Making his debut in Round One, 2000, Bruce kicked a goal with his first kick in senior football. He played 19 games for the season, and established himself as one of a group of young stars in Melbourne’s march through the finals in 2000. Instrumental in a nine point win over Carlton in the Qualifying Final, he was forced out of the Grand Final side with a thigh injury, and was replaced by Ben Beams.

Now a member of the Club’s leadership group, Bruce is an integral part of the side. Wearing No. 32, he plays his 150th game on Sunday against Fremantle, and all congratulate him on this achievement.
