Ball movement coach Mark Williams runs through the 22 players who played in Melbourne’s loss against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium

Clint Bartram: Clint was beaten early against Stephen Milne, but he fought back and negated Milne for the rest of the game. He switched the ball very well and must continue to work hard on his decision-making skills.

Matthew Bate: Matthew’s work-rate was very good. He presented in all the right areas. He needs to demand the ball more and we need to use him more.

Aaron Davey: Aaron didn’t involve himself in the game enough and didn’t make Clint Jones defend him enough. But we know Aaron will fight back.

Michael Evans: Michael had a very good debut. He looked at home in the clinches and won the ball very well. He will gain great experience from his involvement in that game.

James Frawley: James was probably beaten on the day, but he continued to focus on his opponent Nick Riewoldt and provided great drive out of defence. His run-and-carry and ball use was very good and his form continues to be solid.

Brad Green: Brad did a great job on Nick Dal Santo and stuck to the task all day to take the points in the end. The clincher was his two goals. It is great to see Greeny getting some reward for his persistence and hard work.

Jordan Gysberts: Jordie had a fantastic game. His physicality was excellent, as was his distribution of the ball by hand in close. He made some great decisions and continues to improve each week.

Neville Jetta: Nev was good. His involvement around the ground and spread away from stoppage was much better this week. He continues to improve as a midfielder and he must continue to involve himself in the game.

Liam Jurrah: Liam continues to kick goals, but we need to see his agility and creativity. He also needs to keep moving and working harder.

Joel Macdonald: Joel started really well on Brendon Goddard, but then we had to move him into the backline when Luke Tapscott went down. It was Joel’s first game back for a while and his hardness shone through.

Addam Maric: Addam was once again in and out of the game. He keeps hitting the scoreboard and must continue to work on his defensive positioning and his finishing.

Stefan Martin: Stef showed that he can be an influential ruckman and impact the game around the ground. He must continue to show confidence in himself , spread hard away from stoppage and go for his marks.

Jordie McKenzie: Jordie had his first game back. He had limited game time, but impacted with every possession he had. As always, Jordie’s set-up was fantastic and his tenacity and determination was evident.

Brent Moloney: Brent was solid again. His work in close was good, as was his spread away from stoppages where he was rewarded with more possessions. He continually leads from the front with his voice and physicality.

Michael Newton: Juice did some really good things, such as his contested work in the ruck. He just needs to continue to make a contest for us and finish his work.

Nathan Jones: Nathan produced another solid performance. He gave us great drive kicking inside 50 seven times. Nathan won plenty of the ball and was continually involved in the game.

Ricky Petterd: Ricky didn’t have a great game. His work-rate was down as was his movement and involvement in the game.

Jared Rivers: Jared was solid. He had some great tussles with the St Kilda talls. His distribution of the ball and his switching was excellent. Jared’s run and carry was also very good and his leadership was fantastic.

Colin Sylvia: Col was solid again. He’s having a consistent year and once again his physicality was evident. Col had a team-high 12 contested possessions and continues to bash and crash at stoppage.

Luke Tapscott: Luke started well, but got injured early in the game, which was disappointing. He will be missed in the backline.

Matthew Warnock: Matty was very solid again. He was rarely beaten one-on-one and his desperation was fantastic. His decision-making on the day was very good.

Jack Watts: Jack again took a step forward. He has been good in recent weeks. Against St Kilda, he played several roles and had an impact in every area.
