Speaking after Melbourne’s 47-point loss to Carlton at the MCG on Friday night, Jetta said confidence didn’t appear to be an issue for his teammates - instead it was not sticking to the fundamentals.
“We lacked doing the basic stuff out there,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“We didn’t use the ball well at times and we didn’t play wet weather footy well.
“The boys are pretty disappointed with the loss, so hopefully we’ll get up for next week.”
Although it could be argued 11 of Melbourne’s best 22 did not play against Carlton, Jetta said the team was not affected by the considerable number of key personnel missing.
“We’re not too fazed about it,” he said.
“We put our best side out there every week and we expect the 22 that we put out there to perform every week.
“We do our best for the club and for the team.”
Jetta, who has played the past three rounds and laid 24 tackles, said he was starting to find some belief in his game.
“I had a bit of a stint with Casey at the start of the year, but I’ve come back into the side and played my role,” he said.
“I’ve got to do a lot of the team things, like tackling.
“That's my big focus.”
