A COLLINGWOOD team without Travis Cloke will still be a difficult one to combat, says coach Paul Roos.
Cloke, who was best-on-ground with seven goals straight, when Collingwood defeated Melbourne on Queen’s Birthday this year, is out injured. But Roos said the Pies were still going to be no easy feat this time around – even without Cloke.
“When you do play teams [twice in a season], it’s often different – our team’s different and their team [is different],” he said on Roos’ Views.
“Collingwood’s team is changing with Cloke out, but they’ve still got some terrific players. They’ve still played some really good football – even last week they played well at times against the Dogs.
“It’s a different game and we’ll prepare for the absolute best that they can deliver.”
Meanwhile, Roos said the Adam Goodes situation was “really sad”.
“The vast majority of people support Adam and there are still some minorities out there who don’t understand it and don’t get it, which is a bit strange and a bit disappointing,” he said.
“I think the way that the AFL community has rallied around Adam has been terrific and the way the Swans have rallied around Adam – as you’d expect – that’s why they’re such a strong footy club.
“They really look after each other up there, [led] by [chief executive] Andrew Ireland, the captains (Kieren Jack and Jarrad McVeigh) and [coach] John Longmire were terrific today (Thursday), so it’s great to see from an opposition club. But it’s what you’d expect and it’s also what you’d expect from the AFL community, which is great.”
