WHAT a difference a minute makes. Colin Sylvia must have been certain he had secured the Demons’ first win of the season when he kicked a major in the dying minutes of his side’s clash with the Bulldogs.

The goal completed a hat-trick for the 21-year-old and, more importantly, looked set to make him the Demons’ hero, as it gave his side the lead. Sixty seconds later, his status had all but disappeared.

Instead, Sylvia was forced to watch the Brad Johnson take over the role, with a last-minute goal from the Dogs' skipper snatching victory from under the Demons’ noses.

“One minute you’re up and the rest you’re down. It’s a cruel game and we’re very disappointed,” Sylvia said after the game.

So instead of celebrating its first win of the season, the club is going into round eight at 0-7, with West Coast next up at Subiaco.

“We’re really tight as a team at the moment, these are tough times. There have been some good signs in the last few weeks, we’ve just been unfortunate. We should be proud after today's performance because we’re heading in the right direction,” Sylvia said.

“You can easily throw in the towel and give it up … but we’re looking forward to next week. It makes us more determined as a team. What a story it would be to turn it all around and be able to look back on the season and know that we did that.”
