JAYDEN Hunt says he wants to become a versatile player, switching from half-back to wing to half-forward.
The dashing youngster who will make his long-awaited return to the game this weekend for Casey in the AFL Victoria Development League – after missing almost a year with a back injury – said he couldn’t wait to restart his career.
“The coaches see me as quite a versatile player and more of an outside player, so I can try and use my speed on the outside and my kicking skills,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“It’s been a pretty frustrating process in the time I’ve been here, due to my back injury, but I just want to be out there playing and showing what I can do.
“I’m here to play football and hopefully I can get out on the park.”
Hunt said he had worked closely with development coach Brad Miller and backline coach Jade Rawlings on his game.
“I’ve been dealing a lot with Brad Miller and Jade Rawlings and they’ve been making sure I just concentrate on getting through and getting a lot of confidence in my body,” he said.
“I’m just trying to do all of the fundamentals right and improve my game as much as I can, and what happens from there will be the end result.”
Hunt said he was able to work on several areas of his game during his time on the sidelines, which he believes will benefit him in his comeback.
“When you’re in rehab, it’s very easy to get down on yourself and complain, but there is no point doing that,” he said.
“It’s a good chance to improve, watch vision and build the upper body.
“I’ve just been looking forward to the day that I can play, which has finally come. Hopefully I’ve improved a lot of my off-field areas, which will hopefully translate in the on-field stuff and I’ll go from there.”
