COACH Paul Roos says he’s bemused by the hype surrounding midfielder Bernie Vince and who his opponent will be each week.

Speaking at the MCG on Friday, Roos said ever since the former Crow’s close-checking and niggling performance on Adelaide superstar Patrick Dangerfield in round three, the attention had come onto Vince in the lead-up to each match.

“The amount of hype about Bernie … if someone from another club, maybe Sydney or Hawthorn or Freo played like Bernie, no one would talk about it,” he said.

“[People think] it seems unusual that it’s a Melbourne player, which is quite strange.

Roos kept his cards close to his chest in regards to which player Vince will stand against the Swans at the MCG on Saturday night.

“Bernie will play on someone. It might be [Luke] Parker or it might be [Dan] Hannebery. He (Longmire) has got a couple of good players – so it might  be Joey (Josh) Kennedy, it might be Macca (Jarrad McVeigh) or it might be Kieren [Jack) or it might be all of them,” he said.

“It’s a bit strange the hype about Bernie when we’ve been seeing what he did against Adelaide and what he did against Richmond … and play really well.

“Bernie was disappointed in his game last week, as [were] a number of our players.”
