FORMER co-captain Jack Trengove says he has seen definite improvement in his team this year.

Trengove, who has been sidelined since round five last year due to a navicular injury in his left foot, said he had watched on from the sidelines and seen a side transforming under coach Paul Roos.

“From where we were this time last year to now, we’re a totally different side,” he told Dee TV.

“We still see a lot of inconsistencies in our game, which reflects where our list is at.

“I think we’re slowly bridging that gap between our best and our worst and hopefully that just continues between now and the end of the year.”

Trengove said he was encouraged by some of the efforts this season, such as Melbourne’s wins over Geelong, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs.

“We’ve shown we can take it up to some quality sides and we’re just about doing that on a consistent basis, which is what we’re all striving for,” he said.
