WHILE the NAB Trade Period doesn't officially kick off until the end of the week, there's been plenty going on behind the scenes already.
Free agency offers start this Friday but clubs will have to wait until 10am on Monday to actually start making trades.
AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action every morning until the end of the Trade Period on Thursday, October 22.
Lamb to market?
Essendon has joined Carlton in the running to secure the services of Greater Western Sydney forward Jed Lamb, the Herald Sun reports.
Lamb, who was drafted with pick No.22 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft by the Sydney Swans, has been starved of opportunity at his second club.
The 22-year-old has played just 10 games in two seasons on the Giants' list after crossing from the Swans at the end of 2013.
Lamb, who also played 12 matches for the Swans in 2013, averaged 18 disposals per game while also booting 43.34 for the UWS Giants in the NEAFL competition.
Worsfold wasting no time
There has been no rest for the weary for newly appointed Bombers coach John Worsfold, who has already placed a call to Brisbane Lions free agent Matthew Leuenberger, The Age reports.
Leuenberger is yet to decide on a preferred club with Essendon and the Sydney Swans in a neck-and-neck race for his services.
The Bombers are also interested in Gold Coast big man Zac Smith, although Leuenberger is believed to be their No.1 target.
According to The Age, Collingwood defender Paul Seedsman flew to Queensland and was given a tour of Gold Coast's facilities last week.
Seedsman, who fell out of Collingwood's best 22 late in the year, is also of interest to Adelaide and North Melbourne.
Carlton has made enquiries about Greater Western Sydney key tall Adam Tomlinson, who has had little opportunity to establish himself in the Giants' side with Jon Patton and Cam McCarthy commanding the key forward posts.
Blues recruiting manager Stephen Silvagni reportedly wants to reunite Tomlinson with fellow Giants Lachie Plowman, Andrew Phillips, Jed Lamb and Liam Sumner.
Toumpas to return home?
Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney confirmed on NAB AFL Trade Radio on Monday that No.4 draft pick Jimmy Toumpas was exploring his options.
Mahoney said Toumpas was no guarantee to leave the Demons, but according to The Age, Collingwood's Ben Kennedy – one of Melbourne's targets in the trade period – could form part of a deal that enables Toumpas to move home to Adelaide and play for the Power.
Collingwood is one of a number of clubs to enquire about Port Adelaide midfielder Aaron Young, while Power teammate Andrew Moore, 24, who is out of contract, has also garnered interest from opposition clubs.
Clubs lining up for Schoenmakers
Although Ryan Schoenmakers is expected to stay loyal and re-sign with Hawthorn, that has not stopped opposition clubs from lining up to recruit him.
Schoenmakers, who became a first-time premiership player for the Hawks last Saturday, is believed to be on Fremantle's radar, according to The Age.
The Sydney Swans have been the other club to try to pry the key utility away from Waverley.
