JARROD Berry has capped a strong NAB AFL Draft Combine by taking out the 3km time trial with an impressive run.
The Vic Country captain closed out the four-day screening at Etihad Stadium by running 9min 46sec in the gruelling test, which places him in the top 10 runs in combine history.
It followed excellent athletic results for the 18-year-old across the combine, including being a joint winner of the beep test by reaching level 15.1.
The attacking half-back/midfielder also finished in the top 10 for the repeat sprints, clean hands and kicking tests, reminding recruiters of his athleticism.
Berry beat out Rebels teammate Tom Williamson (9:50), midfielder Dylan Clarke (9:52) and key defender Griffin Logue (9:58) in the time trial, after Logue overcame stiff competition from key forward Josh Battle to win the talls group.
"It was a good 'Josh Battle', if you want to say it like that," Logue said to laughs after the run.
"We said we'd go out together and he just shot out from the start and I was worried I wasn’t going to catch him, but I'm happy to draw him in in the end.
"I adjusted my stride length and kept striding out a bit more and more. But I got to the third lap and (Ryan) Garthwaite came and went past me and I thought it might be a bit tough, but I just dug in and gave it my all and I was happy with the result."
Berry's performance in the final event of the combine was given extra weight given his big day of testing on Saturday, which included finishing fourth overall in the repeat sprints.
Vic Metro co-captain Jordan Gallucci took the honours in that event, running a total of 24.36 seconds ahead of No.1 pick contender Andrew McGrath (24.44 seconds).
