‘THE Big Freeze at the G’ returns this year at Melbourne’s Queen’s Birthday game in support of Neale Daniher’s efforts to raise money to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
Last year, Daniher and his team raised more than $2.5million, in the largest ever charity/football fundraising activity. Melbourne is proud to be the host of this event once again in 2016.
The slide will return this year and a host of celebrities will slide down into a pool of ice before the game. This Friday just gone, The Freeze was officially launched on the Channel 7 broadcast, with Daniher nominating Matthew Richardson as the first slider.
Other sliders – Kevin Sheedy, David Koch and Eddie McGuire – have now followed and others will continue to be announced throughout this week.
Melbourne’s major partner, AHG, has been generous in its support of this event again this year, sharing its major match day with the concept and also putting up a car to be raffled, with all proceeds going to Cure for MND.
‘The AHG Walk to the G’ will be happening again this year starting from 12:30pm at Federation Square and leaving for the ‘G – led by Daniher at 1.45pm.
Last year more than 27,000 beanies were sold more are expected to sell this year.
Hopefully, significant funds will be raised again this year and there is a great crowd at the MCG, and participating in the ‘AHG walk to the G’.
Channel 7 has extended the broadcast to start at 2pm, so there’ll be plenty of coverage of the event from a television perspective.
Supporters are being encouraged to get to the ground by 230pm to see all the sliding action.
