BERNIE Vince says he has no problem spending more time out of the midfield next year, as the younger brigade comes through the ranks.
Vince said he and skipper Nathan Jones would continue to play in other roles as the likes of Jack Viney and Dom Tyson continue going to the next level.
The 2015 Melbourne best and fairest winner said he enjoyed spending some time at half-back this year, even though he felt his form was mixed at times.
“I had some good games and then some poor games as well,” he told Melbourne TV.
“In terms of the whole year, it was an OK year for myself.”
Meanwhile, Vince said Paul Roos was a great “father figure” for the club and it was the perfect situation with Simon Goodwin as his successor.
“They think very similarly and have very similar coaching thoughts or strategies, so they’ve worked really well together,” he said.
“I’m sure Goody will carry that on with the good coaching staff we’ve got here now – and helped by his right hand man Brendan McCartney.”
