THE Melbourne Football Club is saddened to hear of the passing of former player Robert Foster.
Foster played 22 games for Melbourne from 1964-67.
He won the Latrobe Valley league under 19s best and fairest and was recruited to the Demons as a fresh-faced 17-year-old from St Pats, Sale.
Foster impressed in the reserves and made his senior debut in the No. 1 jumper early in 1964. His father Jack also played for the Demons, notching up 27 games from 1935-38.
Robert succumbed to cancer after fighting the illness for six months; he was 66 years of age.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rob’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
