CO-CAPTAIN Nathan Jones says the Demons are fully prepared for a fired up North Melbourne after it went down by 36 points to the Adelaide Crows at the Adelaide Oval last round.

Jones said Melbourne was hellbent on stringing consecutive wins this round, but fully understands that the Kangaroos will be just as eager to bounce back after their loss.

“North is coming off a game, where they’d be pretty disappointed about their performance last week, so we’ve really got to understand where they’re coming from. I think they’re going to be pretty fired up to rectify their performance,” he told melbournefc.com.au.

“For us, we’ve had to address a few things and we’re pretty excited that we got over the line – in particular after some average footy in the first half, but we’ll take the four points.

“We’ve already got our heads into this week and we’re really excited to face another pretty strong team that’s in the top eight.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge and it’s an opportunity for us to string a couple of games together. We’ll prepare the best we can and then we’ll bring an all out assault against them on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Jones said he was rapt that the late, great Jim Stynes had been honoured with a bridge in his name.

“I think it’s a terrific honour – the Jim Stynes Bridge. For the city of Melbourne to bestow Jim’s legacy with a piece like this is terrific for his family and it gives them an opportunity to come down here and remember Jim,” he said.

“It also gives Melburnians and the community the opportunity to experience and learn about Jim’s legacy. I think the family would be pretty honoured and I think Jim would be pretty happy with how it’s turned out.

“It’s a pretty cool piece and as this area of Melbourne develops, it will be a real focal point. I think the plaque is terrific and they outline what this is all about.”
