BERNIE Vince will miss Melbourne’s next two games against Port Adelaide at the MCG and North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena respectively, after he accepted the two-match penalty, with an early plea, offered by the match review panel for striking Adelaide's Eddie Betts.
The incident happened during the first quarter of Saturday night’s loss to the Crows at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
The match review panel said: “In summary, due to an existing bad record, his sanction is increased by one match and he can accept a two-game penalty with an early plea.”
“Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction.
“The player has two matches of suspension within the last two years, which qualifies as a bad record, increasing the penalty to a three-match sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a two-match sanction.”
Vince has also accepted the charge for bumping or making forceful contract from front-on against Crow Richard Douglas.
The match review panel said: “In summary, for a second classifiable offence, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.”
“Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head.
“The incident was a second classifiable offence and classified as a $2500 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1500 sanction.”
