In episode nineteen of Inside Melbourne, Caty Price and Clint Stanaway are joined by our milestone man Jordan Lewis as we discuss the importance of this weeks game. We get Jordan’s view on the narrow loss to Geelong (2:10), discuss his journey to 300 games (8:30) and take all your questions from the outer (15:00). Plus special guest Angus Brayshaw is back to talk about his new contract and acknowledge the impact Jordan Lewis has had at the Melbourne Football Club (28:00).
ALTHOUGH he’s set to become just the 85th person to play 300 VFL/AFL games, Jordan Lewis says he feels uncomfortable celebrating milestones.
Speaking on Inside Melbourne in the lead-up to his milestone, which will be against the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, Lewis said he would reflect on his achievements post his career.
“When you finish playing, those premierships and those milestones draw you back into the game – that’s when you appreciate it a little bit more,” he said.
“But I would never have dreamt to have played in a premiership and I would never have dreamt of having the longevity that I’ve had in the game.
“That is one thing that I’m proud of.”
Looking back on last Saturday night’s kick-after-the-siren loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, Lewis said he had no doubt Melbourne would learn from the defeat.
“The group that we’ve got at the moment haven’t really been in that position frequently enough to actually understand what to do and that was exactly the same at Hawthorn,” he said.
“We lost to Geelong 11 times in a row and every time we lost, we learned a little thing along the way and it culminated in a prelim final win.
“I can understand there were people disappointed about the loss, but I’m a glass half full [person] and I understand that there is a lot you can take out of this game, aside from the win.”
