COACH Simon Goodwin says the biggest reward he’s found from Melbourne’s six-game winning streak has been watching the group “grow and get better”.

Goodwin said the camaraderie among the players had gone to another level –since it started its unbeaten streak against Essendon at Etihad Stadium in round six – which had pleased him the most.

“What I’m starting to really enjoy watching is the spirit, the love, the care and the connection for one another – that brings a great smile to your face,” he said at a media conference at AAMI Park on Friday morning.

“We still understand small margins and we need to actually continue to get better.

“So, we’re not sitting here thinking that we’re playing the perfect footy – that’s for sure.”

Goodwin said the club had embraced the build-up to this Monday’s Queen’s Birthday clash against Collingwood at the MCG, which will also see the fourth ‘Big Freeze’, driven by the great Neale Daniher, pre-match.

“It’s a big game for the footy club, but it’s really to get our club and our players to be at their best on the big stage,” he said.

“You can feel the excitement – it’s everywhere you go – and it’s a great game to be a part of and it’s a great cause. But it’s also two really good teams playing some terrific footy.

“We’re looking forward to it and I know Collingwood are as well, and we’re looking forward to getting a big crowd there.”

Goodwin said Daniher was an inspiration to all and had given the club some great lessons around the game and what’s important in life.

“He’s been really special to us,” he said.
