IN collaboration with Telstra, the AFL has today launched the AFLW Official App, which will see AFLW matches live streamed in 2018.
Bringing fans closer to the action, the new app includes interactive features, alongside the streaming of all 29 matches live throughout the AFLW season.
AFL General Manager Growth, Digital and Audiences, Darren Birch, said the fans’ experience is at the forefront.
“The app is designed to bring AFLW fans closer to the players and their journeys, help fans plan their visit to the grounds, and guide them through the rules of the game and the on-field action,” Mr. Birch said.
“The app will be the ultimate way to stay connected to the women’s game with a simple glance, whether you’re at the game or not.”
The introduction of the app comes after the success of the 2017 season, which saw 2.6 million minutes of the women’s competition streamed through the AFL Live app in the opening round.
The new platform will give fans the opportunity to watch all matches of the AFLW season live, including the NAB AFL Women’s Grand Final – data-free for Telstra customers.
Melbourne’s AFLW season will start on Saturday, February 3 at 5.05pm, hosting the GWS Giants at Casey Fields.
Melbourne will play Adelaide Crows (round two), Fremantle (round three), Collingwood (round four), Brisbane Lions (round five), Carlton (round six) and Western Bulldogs (round seven).
The AFLW Official App is now available for download through the App store and Google Play store.
