DELANY Madigan has been informed that she will not be offered a contract for the 2025 AFL Women’s season.

The 19-year-old was selected by Melbourne with pick 55 in the 2023 AFLW draft, hailing from the Eastern Ranges.

The defender played one game in the red and blue, taking part in the Demons’ win over GWS in Week 6. She was an emergency for the team on four occasions.

Melbourne AFLW List Manager Todd Patterson thanked Madigan for her contribution to the Demons.

“This time of year unfortunately makes for some tough decisions, as we are required to have a level of turnover and player movement,” Patterson said.

“In her short time with us, Delany made a significant impact on the team and we have loved her energy and enthusiasm.

“As she’s continued to grow as a player, we’ve been able to see what she’s capable of, but sadly we’re not in a position to offer her a contract for next season.

“We wish her all the best in her next journey, and are sure it won’t be long before she gets another opportunity.”
