The Demons defeated Hawthorn by 10 points (56-46).
Jake Melksham, a real standout on the night, was brilliant for the Dees in the decider, while Neville Jetta was tough down back.
Ryan Burton tried to keep the Hawks in it with a couple of long-range Zooper goals, while James Worpel showed that he is ready to step up and play senior footy straight away.
Melbourne led Hawthorn 31-19 at half-time of the AFLX Grand Final. Jake Melksham was again prominent after kicking his fifth Zooper Goal for the evening. Josh Wagner's ability to interchange between opponents and make good decisions in the back half also stood out.
Harry Morrison has looked lively up forward for the Hawks, while Blake Hardwick's kicking (including a 70m barrel) was another shining light.
The runner-up in last year's NAB AFL Rising Star Ryan Burton showed a propensity to hit the range from outside 50.
And a superb tackle by Angus Brayshaw stripped the ball out of a Hawks opponent's hands and leads to the goal to Alex Neal-Bullen. It was great to see Brayshaw out there after his concussion issues last year.
Melbourne played its strongest squad for the night and was well rested after two wins against Carlton and North Melbourne.
Former basketball Corey Maynard also laid a tremendous tackle in front of the Melbourne cheersquad. He is excellent in contested situations and looms as a chance to play in round one of the season proper if he can impress enough in the JLT Community Series.
