JORDAN Lewis will be inducted as an AFL Life Member after an announcement by the League on Wednesday.

The midfielder, who was among nine others to receive the award, qualified after having reached 300 official AFL games during the 2017 season.

Lewis will be inducted at the 2018 Annual General Meeting to be held in March.

The 31-year-old played 264 games for Hawthorn after being selected at pick seven in the 2004 National Draft, and was a member of the 2008 and 2013-15 premiership teams.

In 2014, Lewis was All-Australian and won Hawthorn’s best and fairest award.

He joined Melbourne during the 2016 trade period, playing 19 games in his first season and finishing equal-third in the best and fairest.

Combined with 25 pre-season matches, Lewis’ total stands at 308 official AFL senior games.

Lewis was among four other players who automatically qualified for the 300-game milestone, along with Eddie Betts, Steve Johnson, Andrew Mackie and Kade Simpson.

Umpires Chris Donlon and Shaun Ryan will also receive the award for passing the 300-game mark, while dual Carlton premiership captain and former AFL commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick, Norm Smith medallist and community leader Michael Long, and dual premiership player and broadcaster Rex Hunt will be honoured under the provision of ‘Special Service to the Game’.

The AFL commission congratulated everyone on their award, and will do so again personally in March.
