MELBOURNE has shown its support for Melbourne City Mission’s annual ‘Sleep at the ‘G’ event for the seventh year running.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday night, May 16 at the MCG.
Over 6,000 young people in Victoria experience homelessness each night, often forced into unsafe housing, someone else's couch or, in some cases, out on the street.
Sleep at the ‘G encourages participants to sleep out at the iconic MCG and experience first-hand what it’s like to ‘sleep rough’ for one night, while raising vital funds for young people who have no place to call home.
Over 1,800 sleepers are set to take part in this year’s event, which is aiming to raise over $1.2 million dollars, to go towards supporting Melbourne City Mission’s life-changing work.
