MELBOURNE has made four changes to its side this week, as Jeff Garlett, Michael Hibberd and Jake Lever have all been withdrawn due to injury.

The trio, along with Charlie Spargo (omitted), will miss Saturday’s clash with Fremantle at the MCG, and are set to be replaced by Jay Lockhart, Alex Neal-Bullen, Harry Petty and Tim Smith.

Lever, who returned for his first game since an ACL injury in Round 12, is out with knee soreness after copping a knock against the Magpies.

Fortunately, there is no concern around the 23-year-old’s ACL, but he has been forced out of the team due to bone bruising.

Hibberd also pulled up sore from the Queen’s Birthday match and will be sidelined this week with a collarbone injury, although he is eyeing off an immediate return against the Lions next round.

The severity of Garlett’s setback is yet to be confirmed after he dislocated his shoulder in a training drill at Gosch’s Paddock during the week.

The four changes have provided an opportunity for a number of Demon’s to regain their position in the team, as Melbourne looks to return from the bye with a clean slate.

Smith, who was withdrawn with illness last game, is back for the red and blue, while Petty will return from his knee injury.

The Demons’ will have Spargo, Jordan Lewis, Braydon Preuss and Billy Stretch on standby this weekend, before the emergencies will get an opportunity to play for Casey Demons on Sunday.
