DEMON veteran Paxy Paxman has been ruled out of Narrm’s Cairns clash with Hawthorn, requiring another week on the sidelines to overcome foot soreness.
Paxman has been managing a foot concern this season, experiencing soreness following games.
“Paxy won't be available this week, she's managing that foot pain that we have mentioned previously,” AFLW High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.
“She just takes a while to get pain free post a game.
“Once she does, she'll look to integrate into training. It won't be this week against the Hawks but we're optimistic that we'll see her again this season.”
Blaithin Mackin and Lauren Pearce are both available to make the trip to Cairns after successful returns against Richmond.
“It was really great to have them back,” Batterton said.
“Both played their role in the team, and it was good to have them playing footy again.
“They both got through unscathed, so no concerns on their front and they'll be available this week against Hawthorn.”
Gabby Colvin is progressing through her return from concussion and will push her case for a recall in the club’s final training session this week.
“Gab’s done really well. She's worked through the protocols”, Batterton said.
“She will train today, so providing she gets through that main training session, she would also look to be available for the clash on Thursday night which is also really positive.”
Tayla Harris (shoulder) and Grace Beasley (knee) remain sidelined for the remainder of the season, as do Jacinta Hose (knee) and Aimee Mackin (knee) who started the year on the inactive list.
For the duration of AFLW Indigenous Round, Melbourne Football Club will be rebranded and referred to as the Narrm Football Club.
