IN A disappointing blow for Melbourne youngster Caleb Windsor, the Demon has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
The club’s High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith provided an update on the 19-year-old on Tuesday.
“At the end of the game in that tackle before the final siren, his ankle got caught under him,” Griffith said.
“Initially, we thought that it may have just been a corkie to his shin or his calf.
“But he presented the next day with some soreness walking and weight bearing, and so we imaged that further which has shown that he's got a low-grade syndesmosis.
“Fortunately, it doesn't require surgical intervention at this stage, so, we'll look to manage that conservatively to give him an opportunity to play at the back end of this year.”
In positive news for defender Jed Adams, the Demon will be available for a return to play this weekend after recovering from a knock in the VFL during Round 17.
“Jed's made a full recovery from that incident from the previous week in the VFL,” Griffith said.
“He fully trained today and will be available for selection.”
Koltyn Tholstrup will need to hit the required markers of his concussion protocol to be available for this week’s match against the Bulldogs.
“Koltyn’s going really well,” Griffith said.
“He's passed all of his other tests, and then will just need to complete a full training session to be available for selection this week.”
After suffering a hamstring injury during Round 19, Christian Salem is taking positive steps in his rehab, with a hopeful look at return in Round 22.
“Christian's progressed really well,” Griffith said.
“He's done a power of work, he's a super professional with his recovery.
“He trained today with the group and still had some low-grade awareness with some certain movements, so, we'll look to continue to progress that over the weekend, to look to have him available for selection next week.”
