Zurich, Melbourne’s Co-Principal Partner, has once again joined with the Demons to support Neale Daniher in his fight against ‘the Beast’ that is Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Zurich has contributed $25,000 to the fight against MND, taking their donation tally to $145,000 over the past seven years.
This year’s contribution comes from the sale of $5 raffle tickets, which put entrants in the draw to win a fantastic bar fridge featuring Max Gawn and Christian Petracca. The winner of the raffle was announced on Tuesday 4 June, with Angus McQuie McKinnon taking home the one-of-a-kind memorabilia.
With $15,000 raised from the raffle, Zurich additionally contributed $10,000, with all proceeds funding vital research and the quest for a cure.
Linda Griffin, Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Zurich Australia and New Zealand, said that Zurich was proud to play at part in the fight against MND.
“We’re thrilled to once again support FightMND’s Big Freeze Campaign, particularly in their milestone tenth year,” Griffin said.
“We’re grateful to everyone who contributed to buy a raffle ticket in support of Big Freeze, which allowed us to match the money raised and donate $25,000 to such an important cause.
“Although Big Freeze has been a fixture in the AFL calendar for a decade, the fight against MND isn’t over. We continue to be inspired by the work of Neale Daniher and the rest of the FightMND team, and are so pleased to play a small part in the quest to find a cure for this devastating disease.”
In preparation for Big Freeze 10, Neale and Bec Daniher visited the club on Tuesday, with Max Gawn on hand to present the significant cheque on behalf of Zurich.
Before first bounce on King’s Birthday, the Zurich Walk to the ‘G will see a sea of red and blue flags and FightMND beanies make their way down Daniher’s Way, while ‘sliders’ will brave the ice in support of the cause.
The annual FightMND Big Freeze match will take place on Monday 10 June, against Collingwood. You can buy a beanie online here or in-store at Coles or Bunnings.
