Forward Jacob van Rooyen will miss Melbourne’s Semi Final on Friday night after accepting a one-match sanction for Striking.

The incident, involving Collingwood’s Daniel McStay, occurred during the first quarter of Thursday night’s Qualifying Final defeat, and was assessed by the Match Review Officer as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact.

General Manager of AFL Performance Alan Richardson said the club explored all options and ultimately decided it would not challenge the ban.

“Over the last three days, we exhausted all avenues and looked through all relevant material before deciding to accept the one-match suspension,” Richardson said.

“Accepting the sanction was in-line with the legal advice the club received throughout the process.”

The 20-year-old will be available for selection in week three of the AFL Finals Series, should Melbourne progress through.
