MELBOURNE forward Bayley Fritsch lit up the SCG in his return from injury, slotting seamlessly back into the Demons forward setup.
Fritsch made an impressive return from a foot injury that kept him sidelined for seven weeks, leaving no doubt as to the impact he can have moving into finals.
“All that hard work to get back as quick as possible and get a game in before finals has paid off” Fristch told Melbourne Media post-game.
“It's obviously been a little bit tough being in the coaches box for the last seven weeks.
“[But] it was great to get back around the boys today and obviously get the win as well.”
Fritsch starred in his return on Sunday afternoon, booting five goals from 16 disposals, and led the team with seven score involvements.
The versatile forward also spoke of his excitement to play finals football and making a dent in September action.
“We’re really looking forward to it. Big games are why we play footy.” Fritsch said.
“Finishing top four is unbelievable for the club, but we don’t just want to get there, we want to do something.”
The Demons will take on Collingwood on Thursday September 7th in the first qualifying final with a crowd of over 90,000 people expected.
