Moloney punished enough: Bailey
Brent Moloney is likely to take his place in the Melbourne side for this week's clash with Gold Coast, says coach Dean Bailey
Moloney was stripped of the vice-captaincy on Monday after revelations that he had been out drinking late at a Melbourne night spot.
Coach Dean Bailey said losing the role was probably punishment enough and Moloney was a strong chance for the trip to Brisbane on Sunday.
"What he holds incredibly dear to his heart is getting into the leadership group because he worked really hard to be vice-captain. That is a severe penalty to take away from him, something that he treasures enormously. That was a big loss," Bailey said.
"And from then on, how he's been training the last couple of days and his approach around the club has been pretty good. We've got a main training session tomorrow and he will be seriously considered, no doubt."
One Demon who has been ruled out is Tom Scully who is set to miss a further six weeks with the knee injury that has prevented him from playing a home-and-away match.
Scully has played just one NAB Challenge game this year and Bailey said the Demons would continue to take a gentle approach with him.
"It's disappointing but it is a very uncommon injury that Tom has got. We're being very conservative with the outlook with him. Everything that can be done is being done to ensure that his treatment is first-class," he said.
"It's a frustrating time for the young man but all indications are that he's walking around OK. We've got our positive hat on about it."
Bailey said he was confident Scully would take no time to return to senior action once the knee healed.
"It's one step forward and half a step back at the moment. His rehab's in place so we'll see Tommy play. I look at these things and say our medicos are all over it. We are providing him with the best environment to get better from a medical point of view and fitness point of view," he said.
"He is the sort of young man who when he does come back he will be cherry ripe to play and it won't take long to find his form again."
