MELBOURNE has signed key forward Matthew Jefferson for a further two years, where he will remain a Demon until the end of 2026.
The 19-year-old has proven his mettle in the VFL, where he has quickly made an impact for Casey.
He has averaged one goal and eight disposals across his 15 games so far, scoring over three goals in four of those matches.
Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb has praised Jefferson’s performance thus far.
“We are really pleased to have MJ commit for a further two seasons. He has shown in his first year that he has all the tools to be a long-term player for our club,” he said.
“His performances at VFL level have been really exciting and whilst his talent is evident to everyone, his application to his training has also been first class.
The 195cm forward was drafted in 2022 at Pick 15, but has not yet played a game for the senior side.
Lamb anticipates seeing the young forward make a quality contribution to our program in years to come.
“He is a really important part of our future, and we look forward to seeing his continued development.”
