Ideally, the club is looking for a host family, which can provide the following:
- An own room for the player with ensuite/bathroom access
- A residence located no further than 8 to 10kms from the MCG and the south/south-east region of Melbourne (on the Casey side of the city)
A living away from home allowance (LAHA) is paid to the host family and is usually paid over a nine to 10 month period, which covers pre-season and the season proper.
This equates to approximately $200 a week for nine months or a slightly less, if the club is involved in finals.
