DEFENDER Colin Garland is in doubt for Saturday’s clash against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, due to an ankle injury.
Garland suffered the setback during last Saturday night’s 19-point loss to the Brisbane Lions at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
“Col injured his ankle during the third quarter and he took no further part in the game,” acting general manager of football operations Josh Mahoney told melbournefc.com.au.
“Scans on Monday showed no significant damage to his ankle however he would still be unlikely to play this weekend.
“He will be assessed during the week.”
Defender Joel Macdonald (groin) and first-year Demon Nathan Stark (ankle) are chances to return via the VFL this weekend, after injury-riddled seasons.
Veteran David Rodan and rookie Tom Couch will miss up to two more weeks with hamstring injuries; speedster Rohan Bail (knee) is still another two to three matches away.
Midfielder Michael Evans and Mark Jamar, who both have foot injuries, will be sidelined for another three weeks.
As announced on Monday, big man Mitch Clark will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.
