THE most anticipated event of the football calendar is back for 2023.
FightMND’s Big Freeze match is just under a week away, which means that Zurich’s Walk to the ‘G is also fast approaching.
The Zurich Walk to the ‘G is an annual event that coincides with FightMND’s Big Freeze match, a game that sees the league rally around Melbourne great Neale Daniher and his fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Both events give fans the opportunity to show their support and help raise much-needed funds and awareness for FightMND, the organisation started by Daniher in his battle to beat ‘The Beast’ that is MND.
This year, the journey will begin at Federation Square, and supporters will walk towards the ‘G via Daniher’s Way, a walkway named after Daniher, acknowledging the significant impact he has had on both the AFL and wider Australian community.
The day will begin with a number of exciting activities at Federation Square from 11am including Q&As with Melbourne players and Club President Kate Roffey.
Zurich will be handing out red and blue flags for all Dees fans to show their support throughout the day, while YoPRO will be showing their support with free products available for supporters at the event.
The Demon Army will also be cooking up a barbecue and raising funds for FightMND, with thanks to Coles who have provided products.
The Demon Shop will be hosting a pop-up stall for any fans wanting to get the latest red and blue merchandise, including the limited edition Gus & Gawny Podcast Crew, with proceeds from the sales going to FightMND.
FightMND will be selling Big Freeze 9 beanies ahead of the walk, with the hopes that a sea of blue will be headed to the ‘G from 12:30pm.
While General Public tickets to the match are sold out for the clash on Monday 12 June, Reserved Seat Club Members will still be able to attend the game using their current membership.
With just six days to go in the countdown to the Big Freeze 9, Melbourne encourages all its supporters to get behind this great cause, buy a beanie and get involved in the Zurich Walk to the ‘G.
