DEFENDER James Frawley says Melbourne still has plenty to play for this season, given the door is still slightly ajar for a finals appearance in 2011.
The Demons remain a mathematical chance to play finals, but they need to win their final three matches and have other results fall their way.
Frawley said it was important the Demons finish the season strongly.
“Hopefully, it does come true this year, but all we can do is concentrate on the next three games and try and get three wins - that’s the best possible chance,” he said.
“Other teams could lose a few like Sydney or Essendon … we could maybe sneak in.
“It’d be good for a young group like us to get in the finals and actually experience that. We want to get out there in a hard finals series.”
Although the Demons have lost their past four matches, Frawley said he was encouraged by the Melbourne supporters for sticking tight through a tough month.
“It’s good for our supporter base to stick behind us and keep going with us,” he said.
“It’s a tough time now, but hopefully in the next few years, we’ll be in the finals and there will be better times and we can get the rewards from that.”
