NARRM’S Maddi Gay is a chance to return to the team this weekend as the Demons prepare for a top-four clash with the Lions.
Gay sustained a minor calf injury last week and subsequently missed Narrm’s Round 3 match with St Kilda, but the club’s AFLW High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said the Demon was eyeing a return.
“Maddi has recovered well from her low-grade calf strain and took part in some of the main groups training on Tuesday,” Batterton told Melbourne Media.
“She will look to integrate further into the group on Friday before we make a call on her availability for Sunday’s game.”
Sinead Goldrick (knee) and Georgia Gall (foot) are both continuing through their respective rehab programs and are ticking off steps week by week.
“Goldie has progressed well, especially over the last two sessions in recovering from her MCL injury,” Batterton said.
“She has completed some training with the main group and will build change of direction volume and skills with contact before being available for selection.
“Georgia is building running volume and is completing most of her session with the main group while balancing year 12 studies.”

For the duration of AFLW Indigenous Round, the Demons will be rebranded as the Narrm Football Club. Narrm is the Aboriginal name for Melbourne which comes from the Woi Wurrung language, spoken by the traditional owners of the city and its surrounds.
