POWERFUL young forward Dean Kent says the players made the most of every tough challenge on Melbourne’s recent pre-season camp to Maroochydore.
Kent, one of Melbourne’s emerging players, said it was great to see every player attack each session.
“Overall we set goals for this camp and all of the boys ticked the boxes,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“We knew it was going to be tough, but everyone attacked it and no one was thinking ‘oh s***, it’s going to be another hard day’. Everyone was thinking ‘how can we get something out of it’ and that’s what the boys did.
“It was a really good camp.”
Kent, who came back from a quadriceps injury over the Christmas/New Year period, completed his program, but then had a niggling back.
After being monitored for the first week of the camp, he bounced back well.
“I got some good rehab in and finished off strongly,” he said.
“I still need to work on my fitness base over the next month to make sure I’m AFL ready, but I’m pretty pleased.
“I’ve dropped some weight, but I got some good ticks out of the camp. It’s good to have bonded with the first-year players and other boys you don’t know as well, so that was great.”
Looking ahead to 2015, the third-year Demon said he was pumped for the season.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
“The whole group is [excited] to see where we’re at.
“I’m sure there is going to be improvements this year, but individually I’m ready to go.”
