MONDAY saw the league throw its support behind Melbourne great Neale Daniher and FightMND in the eighth annual Big Freeze event.

The day, which is a fan-favourite in the AFL calendar, began with Demon supporters gathering at Federation Square in preparation for the return of Zurich's Walk to the 'G.

Following a number of Q&As with Melbourne alumni, a sea of red and blue headed towards the home of football, led by the Daniher family and the FightMND team.

The action at the MCG began with the Big Freeze slide, a much-anticipated part of the annual event which sees Australian personalities take the plunge into icy waters.

The on-field action then began and by quarter time, the fundraising goal of $2 million had officially been reached in an incredible effort from the football community.
