FOR THE past two years, Melbourne fans have been forced to miss one of the most-anticipated events on the Demon calendar, the Zurich Walk to the ‘G.

This year, the famous journey will make its return on Monday 13 June, and the club is encouraging all its members and supporters to get involved.

The Zurich Walk to the ‘G takes place each year ahead of the Fight MND Big Freeze match, a game that has seen the entire league get behind Melbourne great Neale Daniher in his fight against Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

The Zurich Walk to the ‘G is an opportunity to walk side by side with thousands of other fans and help raise much-needed funds and awareness for Fight MND, the organisation started by Daniher in his battle to beat ‘The Beast’ that is MND.

This year, the trek will begin at Federation Square and supporters will walk towards the ‘G via Daniher’s Way, a walkway named after Daniher, acknowledging the significant impact he has had on both the AFL and wider Australian community.

The day will begin with a number of exciting activities at Federation Square from 11:30am including Q&A’s with current Melbourne players, past players, club president Kate Roffey and Bec Daniher.

Zurich will be handing out red and blue flags for all Dees fans to show their support throughout the day, while the Demon Army will also be at Federation Square cooking up a barbecue and raising funds for Fight MND, with thanks to Coles who have provided products.

Fight MND will be selling Big Freeze 8 beanies ahead of the walk, with the hopes that a sea of blue will be headed to the ‘G from 1:00pm.

With just one week to go in the countdown to the Big Freeze 8, Melbourne encourages all its supporters to get behind this great cause, buy a beanie and get involved in the Zurich Walk to the ‘G.
